Manuel D. (Manny) Medina is a highly successful entrepreneur and investor with more than 40 years of Global leadership experience across technology, finance, and real estate development.
Medina is the Founder and Managing Partner of Medina Ventures, an investment firm investing in early-stage technology enabled companies.
Previously, he was the Founder, Chairman of the Board and CEO of Terremark Worldwide, a publicly traded company on NASDAQ until April of 2011, when Terremark was acquired by Verizon for an enterprise value of US $2 billion. Under his leadership, Terremark built and operated the Network Access Point of the Americas, one of the major interconnection hubs in the world. The company excelled as a global provider of managed IT infrastructure services for Fortune 500 enterprises and government agencies.
Medina is also the founder and chairman of the board of eMerge Americas, the premier technology early-stage accelerator platform connecting the U.S., Latin America and Europe. eMerge Americas has helped establish Miami as a thriving technology hub. eMerge has had a multi-billion dollar economic impact on the State of Florida, supporting thousands of jobs. Additionally, Medina founded Medina Capital, an investment firm focused on investing in cybersecurity and data analytics companies. Currently, Medina serves as the Executive Chairman of Appgate Technologies, a global cybersecurity leader in Zero Trust Network Access.
Medina also founded TransAtlantic Bank, a Miami based bank that grew into $700 million in assets and successfully sold in 2007 to Banco Sabadell. Medina was also a founding Board member of Endeavor Miami, the first ever US-based chapter of the global entrepreneurial mentorship organization, Endeavor Global.
In 1991, the US ARMY Corps of Engineers contracted Mr. Medina to help reconstruct the critical infrastructure expansion in Kuwait alongside the Allied liberation troops. Mr. Medina lived in the Gulf Region and built critical infrastructure in both Kuwait and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the course of 3 years.
Medina is a frequent speaker on topics ranging from technology trends and global business to entrepreneurship. His leadership in the IT and cybersecurity industries have resulted in appearances on NBC News, CNBC, Bloomberg TV and Fox Business, as well as interviews with global media outlets. He has been recognized with accolades from many business and community organizations for his leadership and community service, including the “ Sand in my Shoes Award,” the highest honor given annually to a single individual for their outstanding achievements and significant contributions to South Florida.
Medina immigrated from Cuba at the age of 13 with his family. Medina received a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Florida Atlantic University and began his career as a certified public accountant at Price Waterhouse.
