Tony Jiménez has over 20 years of experience as an entrepreneur, operator, and venture capitalist. As Managing Partner at Medina Ventures, Tony is a member of the Investment Committee, identifies investment opportunities, responsible for overseeing the fund’s operations, working with portfolio company founders, portfolio management, and investor relations.
Previously, Tony was Managing Director at Medina Capital, a growth capital fund focused on buyout opportunities in Cybersecurity and IT infrastructure. As Managing Director at Medina Capital, Tony was responsible for operational functions of the fund including financial, regulatory compliance and investor relations.
Tony is also actively involved in Medina’s portfolio company, eMerge Americas, the premier early-stage technology accelerator in the Southeast USA and Latin America. As an advisor to eMerge, he supports founders on scaling businesses, capital markets, and go-to-market strategies.
Prior to Medina, Tony was a Principal at Richmond Global Ventures, a global venture capital fund focused on early-stage platform technologies. At Richmond, Tony supported the general partner in all aspects including identifying investment opportunities, deal analysis, monitoring portfolio companies, and investor relations. Richmond’s portfolio included Latin American, Asian, and USA based portfolio companies.
As an entrepreneur Tony has founded various companies. Most recently, he co-founded JOI, the World’s most sustainable plant-based milk brand. As Chairman and CFO, Tony developed and created a new category within the plant-based CPG industry and the company continues to grow today throughout the USA. Prior to JOI, Tony co-founded L1BRE, an on-demand taxi ride sharing platform in Mexico, home to the largest taxi fleet in the World.
Tony is also the Co-Founder and past Chairman of Roots of Hope, an advocacy non-profit that built an international network of thousands of students across university campuses and young professionals in the USA, Latin America, and Europe. Roots of Hope supports and empowers the Island’s youth to become the authors of their own future. In 2009, Tony assisted 17-time Grammy award winner, Juanes, organize the historic Peace Without Borders concert in Havana that attracted 1.2 million Cuban youth, making it the largest independently organized event in Cuba’s history at that time.
Tony began his career in Washington, D.C. working in Presidential politics as an operations manager on President George W. Bush’s national re-election campaign. Additionally, he supported the Office of Political Affairs at the White House as a staff aide. Subsequently in 2005, Tony was appointed as a special advisor to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Carlos Gutierrez (former CEO of The Kellogg Company). There he was a member of the Secretary’s communications team and assisted on International Trade Missions.
Tony has a Bachelors in Liberal Arts & Sciences from the University of Florida and an M.B.A. in Design Strategy from California College of the Arts in San Francisco, CA. Tony and his wife, Melissa, are parents of 5 children and live in Miami, FL.
